CENTREVILLE – As Queen Anne’s County continues to evaluate ways to trim government, a decision has been made by the County Commissioners to reduce the operational hours of the five County Transfer Stations, also locally known as the “County Dumps” by nearly 50 percent.
All five sites are currently open five days per week although the new schedule reduces three sites down to three days per week and two sites down to two days per week. The new schedule is effective on March 30 and provides for at least one site to be open during weekdays and all sites will remain open on Saturdays from 8am-4pm. Queen Anne’s County Transfer Stations’ New Schedule:
- Hours of Operation 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (see link above for locations)
- Effective March 30, 2011
This change was recommended to the Commissioners by the nine member Task Force on Government Sustainability that was appointed to review County-wide functions and services. According to Director of Public Works, Todd Mohn, the new schedule will save over $160,000 in annual expenses.
