There has been significant discussion about County Ordinance 11-06 that was adopted by the County Commissioners in August of 2011 and became effective in September of 2011 regarding the elimination of a current “maximum gross floor area” of 65,000 sq. ft for certain uses in the Suburban Commercial zoning district.
The adoption of the ordinance was challenged by citizens opposed to the “Big Box” law as it has been referred as. Consequently, the law will be put to a referendum vote in the upcoming 2012 election.
