She had obviously been abused and mistreated. We got her when she was 8 months old and we have had her for about 7 years now. My pit is without a doubt the absolute sweetest dog in this entire world. She is a little skiddish, and always so relaxed and calm. She is a great listener and is just the best compainion anyone could ever ask for. She has not once shown aggression and would never hurt a fly. So it is ridiculous for these breed specific laws to suggest that “ALL” pitbulls are dangerous because that is a very untrue statement. There are many pitbulls who are the greatest sweetest pets. It is unfair to punish dogs that have never had any problems with aggression, and their owners. An old neighbor of mine brought his dogs (one was a pit, and one was another breed I’m not sure of, but I know it wasn’t a pitbull) up in a bad environment and taught them bad behavior and to be violent, and I was attacked my both of his dogs as a kid. (of course not anything too horrible, but still attacked.) He would tell his dog to attack me and it would sure enough come chasing me down. If the owner of those dogs never taught those dogs to be so aggressive and violent, I would bet a million dollars they most likely would have never attacked me. It is 100% the owners fault when a pitbull, or any dog for that matter shows aggression. It is all about how the dog was raised and the environment the dog is brought up in. So if anyone should be punished it should be dog owners of ANY breed of dog that is violent. After having such an amazing experience with my pitbull these past 7 years, when she passes I would love to be able to adopt another pitbull puppy. It would simply break my heart if I could not do so because of laws like these.

I have a German Shepherd….this breed is also on the Dangerous dog list with some insurance companies…which makes it hard to get Home Owners insurance…I am a responsible pet owner…my dog is ALWAYS under control. You are punishing the dogs that have NEVER had an issue.
