Centreville Christmas Parade Tonight IS ON!

The 2012 Centreville Christmas Parade IS ON for tonight, Friday, December 7th beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Streets will be closing starting around 6 p.m., so plan your route accordingly.  And while there may be a little drizzle, it won’t rain on our parade!

This year’s theme will once again be Toys for Tots.  The parade route has changed this year and will begin and end at Queen Anne’s County High School.  The parade will travel along Rt. 304 and follow Kidwell Avenue, turn right on Commerce Street, right on Turpin’s Lane, right on Banjo Lane, left on Railroad Avenue, and return to Queen Anne’s County High School.

16th Annual Heck with the Malls

Centreville is the place for the Queen Anne’s County Arts Council’s 16th annual Heck with the Malls  on Saturday, December 8, 2012, from 9 am to 2 pm.  Join more than 40 artists and artisans in this fun-filled alternative to holiday shopping.  Ceramics, wood carvings, fiber arts, home accessories, jewelry, cards, holiday decorations, home-made dog accessories and treats, wildlife art, photography, handbound books, shutter art, hand crafted candles, and much more. Downtown merchants have specials and refreshments for shoppers throughout the day: Blooming Deals, Centreville Liquors, Cottage Cuts, Edwards Pharmacy, Nancy Hammond Editions, PNC Bank, Serendipidee, Split Endz, Western Auto, and An Eastridge Garden. Santa Visits Centreville

Santa will be visiting Centreville on Saturday, December 8th during Heck with the Malls.  Please feel free to stop by the Santa House, located on the corner of Broadway and Commerce Street, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

There is also a mailbox located on the Santa House for letters addressed to Santa!

Bigbie Shore Performance Grand Opening

Join the Town Council of Centreville for the Grand Opening of Bigbie Shore Performance at 101 Water Way, at the intersection of Watson Road in the Centreville Wharf Building.  The Grand Opening celebration will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon.  Larry Bigbie, who played for the Baltimore Orioles, has opened this new facility to help baseball, softball, and other athletes develop their skills.  Come check the speed on your fastball, take a few swings in the batting cage, meet Larry, and support this newest business in Centreville.  

Stormwater Utility Public Meeting

Monday, December  17th

You are invited to attend a Stormwater Utility information meeting on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company, 212 Broadway, 2nd floor meeting room.  You will learn what the Town of Centreville is currently doing to address stormwater management, why stormwater has to be managed, what a stormwater utility is, what a stormwater utility could mean to you as a home or business owner, and what your stormwater fee may be.  For residential property owners in the Town of Centreville, the fee anticipated under the current legislation is $30 per year.  Please RSVP to TownHall@TownofCentreville.org if you plan to attend this meeting.

Tree Lighting Ceremony

Thanks to all who attended the Town Council of Centreville’s Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Court House Square last Tuesday, December 4th at 7:30 p.m.   The community fellowship, caroling by Harmony on the Bay Sweet Adelines Chorus, and refreshments from Commerce Street Creamery were a delightful way to start the holiday season.

The Centreville Town Council will hold its next meeting Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Liberty Building, 2nd floor meeting room, 107 N. Liberty Street.  The December 20, 2012 meeting has been cancelled.

The Chesterfield Cemetery Advisory Committee will hold its next meeting Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 4:oo p.m. at the Goodwill Volunteer Fire Department, 1st floor meeting room, 212 Broadway.

The Centreville Planning Commission will hold its next meeting Wednesday, December 20, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Liberty Building, 2nd floor meeting room, 107 N. Liberty Street.
